World Autism Awareness Day

World Autism Awareness Day

Last Friday we celebrated World Autism Awareness Day. Everyone came to school dressed in colourful clothes to mark the occasion. Ms Mc Teague's class had a great time in the hall with the children from the Sunshine Room. They got to play together with the parachute and the colourful pom poms. Some also played tag while others blew bubbles. It was such good fun! A big thank you to Ms Verdejo, Parm and Margaret for organising the day!

Below are some cool quotes from people with autism. Have a read!

"Autism can’t define me,I define autism.”

“Being on the spectrum and having other learning differences, I am used to working harder and have a great drive to succeed."

"I might hit developmental and societal milestones in a different order than my peers, but I am able to accomplish these small victories on my own time."

“Help people with autism to be included in social activities. By doing this people learn that individuals with autism are like everyone else and desire to have friendships.”

“Everyone has a mountain to climb and autism has not been my mountain, it has been my opportunity for victory.”

“Do the best you can and never stop”

J McTeague
