Second class have been continuing to learn about volcanoes this week. During science class we made lava lamps. We added some olive oil and food coloring to water in a bottle. Having decorated the bottles to look like volcanoes, we added a dissolvable table to the mix and watched the reactions take place before our eyes! The tablet began to dissolve and made its way through the bottle. This produced cool bubbles that travelled up and down the bottle. The oil sat on top of the water and slowed down the bubbles. This taught us that oil is lighter than water. We had great fun!
