Active Schools Week

Active Schools Week
We thoroughly enjoyed our Active School's Week in Queen of Angels. The children engaged in multiple activities throughout the week such as tug of wars, hurling, tag rugby, obstacle courses, outdoor discos, trips to local playgrounds, sack races, egg and spoon races , gymnastics, yoga, cycling and dice games.
We practised 10 at 10 everyday with classroom challenges both indoors and outdoors. The ideas the children created were fantastic. The children completed Active homework and sent fabulous videos and pictures to their teachers. Every class also enjoyed using the various walkway challenges that covered so many strands of the curriculum.
The staff finally got a win against our sporty 6th class. We beat them very comfortably in a relay race! The atmosphere was electric and I'm sure the cheering could be heard all over Sandyford!!
The children loved the warm message we received from our local soccer hero Stephanie Roche. Her encouraging words kept the children motivated and focused for the week.
Although it rained on our Sports Day, it did not dampen our spirits as we continued with as many activities outdoors as possible. Many thanks to all the staff, helpers, coaches and pupils for making our first ASW so memorable.
