The two 4th classes enjoyed making festive tea light holders for Christmas by recycling glass jars from their homes. The children glued on some tissue paper on the jars and then they chose which festive illustrations they wanted to use from an array of festive tissue napkins or Christmas wrapping paper. They glued on their chosen Christmas pictures on to the tissue paper as seen in the pictures. They decorated the night lights with ribbon and baubles. How festive they look!

An Irish Custom:

The act of placing a lighted candle in the window at Christmas has been an Irish tradition for centuries.

It is seen as a sign of welcome to travellers and visitors and as a light to remember those who have passed or are away from home.

It is a light to guide them home and remind them that someone is tending the fire and waiting for their safe return.
