Autumn has arrived in our school garden!

GREEN SCHOOLS

The new school year has begun in Queen of Angels and once again the children are busy tending to our School Garden which was looked after very well by our Caretakers, Peter and David, during the summer holidays.

We have already had our first “Green Schools” Committee meeting with our very enthusiastic children making plans to keep our biodiversity and vegetable gardens flourishing throughout the coming year. We are gathering seeds from existing flowers to recycle and plant.

Our beautiful Sunflowers are still attracting bees in our Biodiversity Garden and our new Wildlife Garden which was presented to the school by the 6th class who left us in June, is also thriving.

Our children have also been busy digging up the potatoes and onions which they planted earlier in the year. Ms Piggott made potato and butternut squash soup with them in our Nurture Room. It was delicious!!!!

We also picked fresh raspberries, apples and pears from our Orchard which we will use for baking with our 6th class.

We are all looking forward to working in our garden throughout the school year.
