Recently the two 4th classes went to Dundrum Library for a talk with children's author, Erika Mc Gann. They were really looking forward to a day out in the library especially as they knew very little about the author, and it's always fun discovering new authors especially Irish ones!
Erika McGann grew up in Drogheda, County Louth, and now lives in Dublin. She told us she is the author of a number of children’s books, including the winner of the Waverton Good Read Children’s Prize 2014, The Demon Notebook, the first in her magical series about Grace and her four friends. Other books in the series are: The Broken Spell, The Watching Wood and The Midnight Carnival. She is also the author of the ‘Cass and the Bubble Street Gang’ series. She talked a lot about one of her more recent novels, The Strange Tale of Barnabus Kwerk and how she developed each character. We all loved how she often had less well-known names for her book characters.
No day out is complete without a visit to one of our local parks especially as it was such a beautiful, warm sunny day!
