Nurture Room: Being Grateful!

Good morning,

I hope you are all well. For the last few weeks I have been talking about different things we can do to stay well. This means staying well physically and also mentally.

My next tip is Gratitude:

Since the start of the lockdown… I got myself a little notebook and have been writing down, every day, 3 things I am grateful for in my life.

These can be people like

-your Mum..

-your Dad.

-your brother…even though he might annoy you sometimes!

-your sister

-your friends…who play with you and make you laugh.

-your pet dog, cat, hamster, goldfish,

-your school… are you grateful for having a school and being able to go to school… especially now.. since the lockdown?

-the food and water you have: some children have very little food and have to walk miles every day to get water…which is often polluted or dirty.

- what about you house, your bedroom.

-what about your balcony or garden?

-have you got a nice park nearby?

-a nice beach you can go to?

-have you any nice things that you own or got as presents: maybe toys, books, nice clothes, a tablet, tv or even a phone?

So what I would like you to do is…every day for x 3 weeks, write down three things that you are grateful for…

Write them at the same time every day.

The next day, read what you wrote the day before and try and pick 3 new things.

1) What do you think are the advantages of keeping a gratitude diary?

Write down what you think…

2)Now, every day, write 3 things you are grateful for on this sheet:

3) Colour these gratitude bubbles, as you think of how lucky we are..

4)Try and create a gratitude jar.

5)Try an ‘I am Thankful’ Acrostic Poem…

7)Try and write a short letter thanking someone for something that they did for you..

I hope you enjoy these activities. Just do as many activities as you can, and don't worry if you do not finish everything!

Take care,

Mr Mac.
