Ms Duignan’s 2nd class had a great day out at the National Art Gallery in Dublin city centre. The children had the opportunity to visit and explore the Spanish artist, Sorolla's work and his life. They were very inquisitive and were fascinated by his paintings and how he became known as the 'Master of Light'. The tour-guide, Jacinta, showed the children paintings of beaches, landscapes, gardens and family portraits. The children observed and noted how Sorolla created and portrayed sunlight in his paintings.
On the way home we took a scenic break in St Stephen's Green where the children had lots of fun in the playground. Overall it was a very enjoyable and educational day. Now it's our turn to get painting!
