"Diwali, India's biggest and most important holiday of the year, is a festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the human ability to overcome. Diwali has become a national Indian festival. It generally lasts five days. During Diwali, people wear their finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with diyas and rangoli, perform worship ceremonies of Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and wealth, light fireworks, and partake in family feasts, where mithai (sweets) and gifts are shared."

From Vihaan’s mother

Diwali has become an annual celebration in Queen of Angels. The children came dressed in their beautiful Diwali costumes and some also arrived with their hands painted with henna designs.

Lots of classes hung lights, made diya lamps and hung paper lanterns in their rooms. We had our Diwali parade in the junior block which was awash with colour.

We all loved celebrating this festival of light!
