The 7th of May saw Ms. Hickey’s 6th class students receive the fourth sacrament, the Sacrament of Confirmation. Fr. Jim Caffery and Fr. Dermot Lane confirmed the students in a beautiful ceremony in the Church of Ascension, Ballaly. Ms. Archer and Ms. Piggott led students from 4th to 5th class in the choir, who sang beautifully on the day. All ten confirmation candidates had been busy preparing for months and all played an integral role in the ceremony. The day was made particularly special when the candidates were joined by their 6th class peers to celebrate this special day. It was lovely to see such respect and joy being shared amongst the children and parents. Fr. Lane presented each student with a copy of Greta Thunberg’s book as a gift on the day, highlighting an important message of global citizenship and the role each of us can play in creating a sustainable future for everyone.
