Healthy Eating and Active School Week

January 18th – January 22nd

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope that you haven’t found the transition to home schooling too challenging. I’m sure lots of us overindulged during the Christmas holidays and didn’t get to exercise enough so this week we have decided to make amends and kick of the new school year with Healthy Eating and Active School Week!

Here are some suggestions that your child/children might like to do at home during this fun week. You might like to join in too!

  • 10@10 – every morning at 10am we are asking you to drop everything and get outside (if you can!) and do an exercise for 10 minutes! Hence 10@10.
  • Make a healthy meal with your child and send in a photo of the finished product with the title of the meal. ( it can be as simple as a boiled egg and brown toast)
  • Make a smoothie! Take a photo and write out the recipe!
  • Dance – Maybe do a Tik Tok dance
  • Active Indoor Games - like Twister, Gymnastics
  • If you have a skipping rope then get skipping!!
  • Can you Juggle? We would love a photo showing your juggling skills using whatever you have in the house: oranges, apples, balls etc
  • Try some of the worksheets attached
  • 2021 work sheet attached- write a few lines on how you can stay healthy for the New Year!
  • The staff are going to send in their favourite healthy recipes . Maybe you could try one with your child?

Looking forward to a fun week ahead and remember if exercising outdoors, keep within 2km from home and keep a 2m distance from others.
