6th Class Work: 18.05 - 29.05

17-May-20

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a good week and are keeping safe and well. Below is the assigned work for the next two weeks (Monday 18.05 – Friday 29.05). Parents please remember it is just a suggested list and there is no pressure to complete everything listed below. Try complete a bit of work each day to keep up the routine of school.

Nothing needs to be printed off. You can download sheets or challenges, save them as a word document and attach it to an email to send back to me to be corrected.

As always I would love to see how you’re all getting on. Thank you and well done to everyone who has sent me their work. I have been very impressed with the work you are all doing – keep it up.

Maths:

English:

  • Creative writing: What would a 7th class in Primary School be like?? Imagine you are starting 7th class in September, not 1st Year. What would the work be like? What subjects would you do? Be creative.
  • Why not try baking simple recipes for English this week. Ensure you get help from someone at home. Write the procedures, recipes, baking time, ingredients etc. As always take photos of your baking and send them on! https://www.allrecipes.com/gallery/easy-recipes-for-kids-to-make-by-themselves/
  • SPWB: Complete activities in Units 30 and 31. Learn each word and put them into a sentence. Use a dictionary to look up the meaning of each word.
  • Racing Ahead: Read the story The Hands That Built America (P. 232) and Diaspora (P. 238) and answer the questions and activities that follow.
  • Hand Writing: Continue on – do at least one page a day.
  • Better English: Complete the comprehension activities in Unit 29 and 30.

Gaeilge:

  • Freagair na ceisteanna faoi do theach – Answer the questions about your house.
  • Scríobh amach na ceisteanna agus déanaigí pictiuir do do theach.

  • Cén sort tí agat? Tá tí ________ agam. (What type of house do you have?)
  • Cé mhéad seomra atá ann? Tá _________ seomra sa teach (How many rooms?)
  • Cad atá sa chistin? Tá _________ sa chisitin. (What’s in the kitchen?)
  • Cad atá sa seomra suí? (What’s in the sitting room?)
  • Cad atá sa seomra leaba? (What’s in the bedroom?)
  • Cad atá sa seomra dín? (What’s in the attic?)
  • Cad atá sa ghairdín? (What’s in the garden?)
  • An bhfuil seid agat sa ghairdín? (Is there a shed in the garden?)

  • Look at the attached poster of a house. Learn the vocabulary. Draw the rooms. Ask someone at home to test you on the words. Write them out a few times so you’ll easily remember them. Ask someone to play the drawing game we play in class.
  • Read the story Scéalta Dhaideo again and see how many words you can remember. Answer the questions after you’ve learned the vocabulary.
  • Verb: Tóg (To Take) Tógaim, Tógann tú, sé, sí, Tógaimid, Tógann sibh, siad

Project Work

  • Create and complete a small project on Martin Luther King. Remember all we did about this earlier in the year. Include facts, images etc. Write the facts in your own words, not copying directly from the internet.

History

  • Create and complete a PowerPoint on yourself – similar to the autobiographies we did last year.
  • Write about significant events in your life, such as moving house, brothers/sisters, milestones (learned to walk, talk etc.), and your time in school.

Geography

Art

Music

Confirmation: Please continue to send me on the name you are choosing for your Confirmation. Fr. Peter will continue to say a Mass for you during the week. Think carefully about the name you are choosing and write the reasons you chose it. I look forward to reading them.

Once again, well done on the work you have done to date. Keep up the motivation and the routine. Feel free to email me any work for correction, or any questions about the above work if you are unsure about anything.

Take care,

Mr. Connaire.
