6th Class Work: 02.06.20 - 12.06.20

01-June-20

Hi 6th Class,

I hope you are all keeping safe and well, and enjoying the sunny weather. Well done on the great work you have been doing so far. I have received many emails with work attached – keep up the motivation.

As we draw closer to the end of the year, we are going to begin to organise for the school books to be dropped back to the school. We have organised a timetable for the return of the books. Details are as follows:

  • 6th class book return – Thursday 11th June between 10-11am.
  • Please return the books in a sealed plastic bag with your name and class marked clearly on the outside.
  • If you have younger brothers or sisters in the school, please drop their books back with yours in a separate labelled sealed plastic bag. This will ensure that your parents / guardian will only have to make one trip to the school.
  • Books to be returned: Mathemagic, Better English, Racing Ahead, Bun go Barr, Window of the World History and Geography. You do not need to return books you have written on, such as Spelling Workbook, Mental Maths or Handwriting Workbook.

Below is a list of suggested work for the next two weeks to keep you going. It is only a suggestion, and as always, there is no pressure to get it all completed. Remember nothing needs to be printed. Sums and questions can be done in the appropriate copy.

  • Report writing. We will be looking at report writing for the next two weeks. Reports tell a story of who, what, when, where, why, and how. Click on the links below to go on a virtual tour of Dublin Zoo. When you’ve watched the videos, write a short report of each one. Tell the story of what you saw, who was there, what were the animals up to, etc.

  • Creative writing: When you have finished your virtual tours, create and design a poster to advertise Dublin Zoo to anyone who has never been there. Consider the following questions: why should someone go? What will they see? What kind of experiences are there at the zoo?
  • SPWB: Continue on to the next two units, completing the activities and putting the words into sentences.
  • Dictionary work: use a dictionary to look up the meaning of each word.
  • Handwriting: continue on, do at least one page of handwriting per day.

Gaeilge

History:

  • As you are now completing your time in Queen of Angels, it might be nice to reflect on it. Have a look through an old photo album to see if there is any old photos of you in Infants or on your first day in school.
  • In your copy write about your time in school. How did it feel to be in school? What advice would you give to anyone that is about to start school in September?

SPHE:

  • Like the above, you are staring a new school in September. What concerns do you have? Is there anything you are looking forward to / not looking forward to? Do you know anyone going to your new school with you? What have you been grateful for in QOA?

PE:
