"Diwali, India's biggest and most important holiday of the year, is a festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the human ability to overcome. Diwali has become a national Indian festival. It generally lasts five days. During Diwali, people wear their finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with diyas and rangoli, perform worship ceremonies of Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and wealth, light fireworks, and partake in family feasts, where mithai (sweets) and gifts are shared."
From Vihaan’s mother
Diwali has become an annual celebration in Queen of Angels. The children came proudly dressed in their beautiful Diwali costumes and some also arrived with intricate henna designs painted on their hands.
Lots of classes put up lights, made colourful diya lamps and hung decorated paper lanterns in their rooms.
We all loved celebrating this festival of light!
