The pupils in Queen of Angels celebrated Lá ‘Le Bríde on Thursday, February 1st, the first day of spring. They listened keenly to the story of St Brigid and how she willingly dedicated her life to caring for the poor, the sick and the elderly. They enjoyed hearing about the power of her cloak and how it miraculously grew to cover the ground she needed to build her convent. Later, during Art class, many classes made their own cloaks of St Brigid using cut-out mosaic “paper” tiles or by using the method of paper-weaving. The children also enjoyed seeing how a St Brigid’s Cross was made out of freshly picked rushes. Other classes made crosses out of matchsticks. The children were very excited bringing home their newly weaved crosses. A big thank you to Suzanne and Dara for bringing in rushes from their own garden! Beannachtaí na Féile Bríde!
