On Thursday morning, October 17th, a soap making craft class for parents took place in our school kitchen. Susan explained to the group the process of how she creates soap. She showed everyone how to heat the ‘melt and pour’ soap mix in a microwave, add essence and colouring, pour the solution in a silicone mould and then set the soap in the fridge. Susan went through this process a number of times with the group. Susan provided the group with a great selection of scents, colours and silicone shapes, some with a Halloween theme to create individualised soaps. Everyone labelled and decorated soap bags with tags and stickers. We all enjoyed tea and coffee, snacks and homemade banana bread made by Kim while we waited for the soaps to set. When the soaps were ready, we placed them carefully into the small bags. Everyone went home with their own unique soap creations! Thank you to Susan for sharing her talents with us. We hope to run another craft morning again in the coming weeks. A big thank you also to all the parents who attended this morning!
