The boys and girls in sixth class visited Airfield farm this week. We saw Red Rhode Island hens and learned that they lay one egg every day of the year. We then met two beautiful calves and got to watch the mother cows being milked. Farmer Brian showed us how the milking machine worked and told us that the cows produce 22 litres of milk a day. After the cows, we saw three little piglets. One of which escaped and had to be chased by six different farmers! We visited the soil expedition at Airfield and learned about how important it is to protect soil for our environment. After seeing the farmyard we walked through the Airfield house and saw lots of interesting artefacts. To finish our trip we climbed some amazing trees and played tag! It was a great day out.
