Mr Connaire's take on the Repak Reimagine Challenge

Mr. Connaire’s 5th class were given a challenge by Ms. Fallon on behalf of Repak Ireland to create a chair from recycled materials. The brief stated that it was to be made from recyclable goods and be able to support the weight of an adult. We found an old chair that had seen better days and took the damaged cushions off it. We repainted the steel frame with a green metallic paint. For the back of the chair we found an old wood log from a tree that grew on the grounds of the school. It was 22 years old. That was attached to the back of the chair. We sanded it down and decorated it with our handprints. We used recycled plastic bottles and old pieces of wood for the base of the chair. We decorated another piece of wood and signed it ‘Mr. Connaire’s 5th Class 2024-2025’ and used it for back support. Finally we stuffed an old fabric bag with old clothes that we brought in from home. Challenge well and truly accepted!
