For science this week 5th class were learning all about air pressure. We used the example for shaking a fizzy drink and compared it to a non-fizzy drink. We shook both bottles and the carbon in the fizzy drink caused it to burst out of the bottle as soon as it was opened! We concluded that the air pressure in the fizzy drink bottle was so great that it had to escape upwards and outwards! Next we got a straw, a balloon, some string and some tape. The string went through the straw and we attached an inflated balloon to the straw. We pulled the string tightly and let go of the balloon! The air escaped the balloon, causing it to race along the string! We had great fun racing our balloons!
