Seachtain na Gaeilge took place from Monday 11th until Friday 15th March this year in Queen of Angels. There were lots of activities going on throughout the week. Every class was busy creating wonderful art pieces with an Irish theme as part of our Comórtas Éalaíne (Art Competition).Events such as An Tóraíocht Taisce ( Treasure Hunt) and An Tráth na gCeist ( Table Quiz) provided great entertainment for all the pupils. The children got to sample some traditional Irish cooking courtesy of Áine, our SNA, who made a big pot of Irish stew in the Nurture room for the children to enjoy. Also, each class was given some brown bread, Irish butter and jam and cocktail sausages to sample. The children gave these a big thumbs up! Lots of the classes enjoyed the Walkway Challenge(Dushlán Shiúlbhealach) while others enjoyed the Bord Gaeilge competiton. The Kahoot Quiz, based on Lá Fhéile Pádraig, provided lots of fun for the senior classes! A big míle buíochas to rang 6 who read big-book stories to the ranganna sóisearacha! We had our annual Lá Glas where everyone came dressed in the colours of our National flag( Brat na hÉireann).Some even dyed their hair green! To kick start this lá speisialta, all the classes gathered in the junior yard outside for our very own Paráid Naomh Pádraig.The children played the bodhráns; flew flags and banners; shook shamrocks, maracas and tambourines and banged drums as we marched around the grounds of the school and we ventured out side where lots of the passing traffic beeeped their horns as we waved to them.
