On June 12th, we celebrated Queen of Angels’ annual ‘Intercultural Day', which is a very special day in our school calender.
In the morning, the school community gathered in the junior yard. The children, parents and staff came to school dressed in a variety of colours, traditional outfits and jerseys.
We began the day with our parade. The children, parents, grandparents and staff all stood behind the banner of their country, cheering, waving flags, dancing and playing instruments. Nearly 50 different countries were proudly represented.
The parents and grandparents then gathered in our hall for a coffee morning and a chance to taste the wide variety of delicious foods kindly prepared by our parent volunteers. The children’s international themed project and artwork on display were also admired by the parents.
Then every class visited the hall to sample the delicious foods on offer during the day. A special mention of thanks to our parent volunteers for sharing their food dishes. Some were up very early in the morning cooking and preparing food for us all!
The day finished with assembly. Our 1st to 6th classes performed intercultural themed poems and dances, shared facts and sang songs.
Thank you to Eva from the Parents Association for decorating the hall with global themed balloons, our caretaker Tony for arranging the furniture in the hall and to Susan for her colourful floral arrangements that she created with the pupils.
