As Spring is here (although with the current weather you might not think it is!!!) our children are excited to be able to get gardening again in our School Garden.
Our school is participating in a new Gardening Programme this year and at present Ms McAdam, Ms Archer and Ms Martin’s classes are participating in it. Each class will have a chance to take part before the summer holidays.
The children are very busy tidying up the garden after the long winter. As usual the children are all very enthusiastic, keen and energetic in completing lots of tasks.
Despite the inclement weather, we have successfully planted a mediterranean style herb garden, sowed onions and replanted the hanging baskets outside Ms Downs’ Room.
Ms Martin’s Class did a great job in tidying up our Wildlife garden and replanting some plants in it. They call it” recycling our plants!!!”
As a Green School we like to do as much as we can to protect our environment. We like to divide and replant flowers which need more space.
We are also planting seeds which we collected from flowers that bloomed last year.
We have our own water system wherein we collect rain water and it is quite full right now.
The children are also very interested in learning the names of flowers.
Going forward we are getting our beds ready to plant vegetables and fruit.
Hopefully the weather will improve but the children are so happy to garden in all weathers.
