A round up of all the football tournaments this week

Queen of Angels had a very busy week of football this week. On Monday our girl's team played in the Quarter Final of the DLR Cup against Monkstown ETNS. We played across the road in St Mary's FC. It was a great and competitive game, with players battling all around the pitch. Monkstown scored a goal against the run of play and QOA played really well, with Twinkie taking numerous shots on goal. Unluckily for us, Monkstown's goalkeeper had a magnificent game and blocked and saved every shot. We were very unlucky to lose 1-0.

On Wednesday our two 6th Classes competed in the Jonathan Harris Cup, in honour of Jonathan, a former student in Queen of Angels.
In fantastic, sunny weather, we played 5 games against teams from St Mary's and St Olafs. The boys side of the competition had great, competitive games. The girls played some great football and won the Shield Trophy.
When the matches were over, we had a medal and trophy presentation followed by a delicious ice-cream cone for everyone who took part. Great weather and a great day had by all.

To round off the week our boys’ football team travelled by bus to Joeys FC for a unique competition. It was played against local schools to mark the end of the 6th classes’ time in primary school. Games were played with style, pace and skill. Each team played five matches. The whole aim of the day was to have fun! Huge credit was due to each player. Our current team have huge shoes to fill to replace our outgoing 6th class players. Game on!
